Armagh is Ireland's ecclesiastical capital, home to two cathedrals and a remarkable collection of Georgian buildings. The Mall, Russell Street, Abbey Street and the streets around the Shambles are full of elegant period homes with natural slate roofs, stone chimney stacks and fine lead details. Looking after these roofs is specialist heritage work that calls for patience, matching materials and traditional techniques.

Typical heritage jobs in Armagh include replacing slipped and broken slates with sympathetic matches, renewing lead valleys and flashings, repointing chimneys with suitable lime mortar and repairing cast iron gutters and downpipes. Many buildings are listed or sit within conservation areas, so working with a roofer who understands those requirements is important.

Just a short drive away, Craigavon tells a very different story. The new city was built mainly in the 1960s and 1970s, with large estates and many homes featuring flat roofs or flat roofed extensions and garages. Portadown and Lurgan also have plenty of homes from the same era. Modern flat roof installations using EPDM rubber or GRP fibreglass are extremely popular here, replacing old felt that has reached the end of its life.

Across the county, regular jobs also include fascia and soffit replacement, gutter cleaning, moss removal and storm damage repairs on rural farmhouses.
